LVCT's work is premised on the use of high quality research evidence to inform HIV/AIDS policy reform advocacy that LCT undertakes and HIV services delivery. Research studies that LVCT chooses to undertake are based on gaps in service delivery or policy. Thus, LVCT focuses on research questions and methodologies that impact directly on services and policies. Research findings are disseminated through peer reviewed publications, research reports, policy briefs, conference presentations, meetings and workshops.
LVCT maintains an up-to-date and secure, database of research and routine service data of over 2,000,000 million records including data on HIV testing and counselling, care and treatment, services delivered to vulnerable groups, the one2one youth hotline data; post rape care data base; and LVCT training. These data facilitates internal monitoring and programme planning and review, as well as donor reporting, advocacy and policy advocacy, in addition to being a source of new knowledge as demonstrated by our research portfolio.
The Research and Data Divisions are staffed with competent personnel ranging PHD and Masters qualifications in a range of social science and statistics disciplines. The Divisions support LVCT through regular literature reviews to inform programmes, developing research questions related to gaps in services and undertaking research and data analysis that is fed to programmes.
