LVCT acknowledged during the launch of Kenya National AIDS Strategic Plan III
The Kenyan government launched the Kenya National AIDS Strategic Plan 2009/10 – 2012/13 on January 12th 2010, with the rallying call Delivering on Universal Access to Services. The National AIDS Control Council provided leadership through a consultative process.LVCT participated actively and provided evidence from research and practice, technical assistance in HIV testing and counseling, care and treatment and vulnerable and most at risk populations.
The strategic plan was officially launched by the Right Honorable Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Present were the Minister for special programmes Hon. Dr. Naomi Shabaan, Minister for Public Health and Sanitation Hon. Beth Mugo and Minister for Medical Services Hon. Anyang Nyong’o, showing Kenya’s commitment to an effective HIV response.
In his speech, special guest at the launch, Executive Director of UNAIDS Mr. Michel Sidibe acknowledged LVCTs contribution to integrating and inclusion of concerns of most at risk populations as well as the importance of gender and human rights across the Plans four Pillars.Click here for the full Speech by Mr. Sidibe
